Organising your event in Amsterdam
The picturesque waterways and beautiful bridges of Amsterdam rival even that of Venice. The city’s individual character has been retained in its low-rise, red roof buildings that have not let garish architecture or irresponsible development ruin their unique charm. It is no surprise then that Amsterdam’s historic 16th-century canal network, which makes up much of the inner-city, was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010.
The lack of traffic and abundance of canals give Amsterdam a wonderfully relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, something which is reflected in the tolerant attitude of the local residents. Many cafes, restaurants and bars have utilised their waterside locations with charming seating areas or terraces, perfect for summer events. The city is also home to an impressive selection of art galleries and museums, as well as many beautiful green spaces and parks.
Unique to Amsterdam are its beautiful selection of boats and barges, many of which can be rented for various purposes through Spacebase. For a city that is built on 165 canals, has over 100 kilometres of waterways and more bridges than Venice, there is no better way to soak up Amsterdam’s atmosphere than by boat.
